| | more artsy than fartsy | ] | As a performing artist, I often get asked about the fundamental goals of art. Actually, I don't, but I damn well should. So here are the most important points:
* Art should be free and accessible for everyone.
* Art should provide the viewer with new ways to see ordinary things.
* Art should sometimes smack right into you when you're least expecting it.

That was hilarious! It reminds me of one thing I always wanted to do, if I ever won the lottery or something, which was to hire a dance troupe, seed them into a crowd, and have them bust into a "spontaneous", well-choreographed dance routine like you see in the movies. All the while, I'd be sitting off to the side, laughing my ass off at people's reactions :)
I love it when uninvited art intrudes into peoples' lives. That's what makes me love this sort of thing. At the same time, while I was watching it, I kept thinking that I could've written that song better... | |
